UCAT

What is the UCAT?

The University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) is an online test for entry into undergraduate medicine.

It is completed in July of year 12 at an in-person testing site.

There are four subsections: verbal reasoning, decision making, quantitative reasoning and situational judgement

Is the UCAT a good test?

Australian research published in 2025 suggests rural students are significantly disadvantaged in the UCAT compared to those in urban areas.

Possible reasons include limited access to exam tutoring services, the cost of these services, reduced career and peer networks, and less at-home support.

Frustratingly, many universities still rely heavily on the UCAT.

We are seeking to remove the barriers the UCAT creates for rural students.

Key dates for 2026
